Welcome to my fishing page. Here you will find photos and facts.

Some of these pictures are of fish that I have caught. You will also find drawings and pictures of different species of fresh water fish. There will be more pictures posted here at a later date.

I LOVE TO FISH!!!! I have been fishing ever since I was four or five years old. I like to fish for several different species. My favorites include bass, crappie, walleye, and trout. My pick for the most prestigious fish is the Brook Trout. They are small, delicate jewels. My pick for best eating is the walleye. Crappies are fun to catch. I only keep very few fish to eat, because my wife doesn't like fish and I don't feel like cleaning a lot of fish. I usually practice catch and release. I also keep a fishing journal. I have found a fishing journal very valuable for remembering lures, locations, conditions, and success.
Thanks for viewing this page, Enjoy!!

Nebraska Master Angler Largemouth Bass!
I caught this nice 22 inch Largemouth Bass at the Fremont Lakes State Rec. Area, lake #15 (Victory Lake) on May 13, 1999. It was a Female preparing to spawn. There was a smaller (approx. 18") male guarding a bed in about a foot of water. This female was about five feet off the nest in deeper water. She bit a small smoke and glitter grub. She was released after this photo was taken.

Nebraska Master Angler Crappie!
(pomoxis nigromaculatus)

This is a 15 inch Black Crappie that I caught on April 1, 1999. It was caught at Fremont State Lakes, Lake # 1 (catch and release only, barbless hooks). This fish was also caught on a smoke and glitter grub. The Crappie fishing was very poor on lake #1 this year. The water level is down about four feet, due to drought. Most of the typical crappie spots were to low for their comfort.

Largemouth Bass.
(micropterus salmoides)

The Beautiful Brook Trout!
(salmo trutta)

I grew up in Michigan fishing trout on the numerous small creeks and streams. My late Grandpa Cazier took me Brook Trout fishing on the small stream that ran through their property when I was a small boy. I became hooked on them. They usually inhabit the smaller, clear streams. The more natural and colder, the better. In these colder streams they take a long time to grow big. The largest one that I have personally seen swimming in the wild was about 17 inches (I lost it!). As you can see from this picture they are very colorful fish. They are much more beautiful in person. If you want to try for them, You can catch them in a few streams here in Nebraska. They are very wary, so be careful. Good Luck.
Walleye.
(stizostedion vitreum)

Walleyes are a great sport fish. I fish for walleyes at Gavins Point Dam, located on the missouri river near Yankton, South Dakota. This is a great place for the shore angler to fish. Last April I went up there, and was catching them on a white grub with a chartruese jig head. I fished it plain and caught several walleyes, saugers, and white bass.
The Powerful Flathead Catfish!
(pylodictis olivaris)

I have yet to catch a Flathead Catfish. I have to admit though that I really haven't put much effort into trying. I never fished for catfish until I moved to Nebraska in 1995. From everything that I have seen and read about them, I have become fascinated with them. They can reach the 100 lb mark, and the weight is mostly muscle. Make sure you have heavy duty gear if you are going after a monster.
