Welcome to my hunting page, dedicated to upland bird hunting.
I moved to Nebaska about five years ago. Since that time I have been pheasant hunting more and
more. Back in Michigan I loved to Grouse hunt, but there were few pheasants around.
I took the next step and got a hunting dog. She is a yellow lab who already seems to love pheasants.
She was born at the end on January, 2000. She is retrieving, scenting, and marking very well. I hope
to have lots of fun this fall.

Ring-Necked Pheasant.
The male ring-necked pheasant is about 36" long and weighs about 3 pounds.

Remington 870 Express.
This is the shotgun that I hunt birds with. So far it seems to be a good gun.
I use the 12 ga. model. It has a 3" receiver.
For pheasants I like to shoot #5 shot. For Quail I use #6 or #7 1/2 shot.

Male Bobwhite Quail.
You can tell the Male Bobwhite Quail by the white on his head and throat areas.
The female has a tan color in these areas. Quail are about 10" long.
I had never hunted Quail untill i moved to Nebraska. I have fallen in love with these little birds.
The average covey size that I have seen is about 6 to 8 birds. They explode in every direction
when flushed and they fly like miniature jet fighters. Unlike pheasants, they tend to hold
tight when they land. Pheasants love to run.
